What is a DogWatch® Hidden Fence System?

The DogWatch Hidden Fence is a pet fencing system that uses an electronic FM radio signal to keep your dog in a designated containment area, such as a yard; or OUT of an area, such as a swimming pool or garden bed. Our pet fences also work in the interior of your home to keep your pet off a couch or out of a designated room.

How does it work?

A wire, buried underground, carries a harmless, low level FM radio signal around the containment area. Your dog wears a receiver on a collar that emits a mild stimulation, or correction, when he gets too close to the boundary. With an indoor unit, depending on the application, or opening, the wire can be hidden under the couch or rug, or be wired in your basement to cover multiple openings.

How does my dog learn where the boundry is?

Your dog is trained by us (see testimonials) and learns the containment area through voice commands and visual flags that are set inside the hidden fence. Your dog goes through training sessions with us and with you for a few minutes a day for aproximatley 7 to 10 days. With our training the dog will get to know the "good" area of his or her yard. If your dog gets to close to the boundary he or she will get an "audible" warning first, followed by a mild correction if the dog reaches the boundary.

How long do the flags stay up?

During the training period the flags are slowly removed, and generally will all be gone within 30 days. Please consult with us prior to removing any flags. We will instruct you on when and how many to remove.

What is the difference between AM and FM radio signals?

An FM radio signal is more concise and therefore allows faster reception of the signal than waves from an AM radio. A DogWatch fence has more features to protect your pet
(FastReact™) and are convenient for you (AutoMemory™), while providing the longest battery life in the industry.

What is FastReact™ ?

FastReact™ is the reaction time of the receiver. Less than an eighth of a second for a DogWatch receiver. The fastest reaction time in the industry.

What is AutoMemory™ ?

This patented feature constantly monitors your dog and automatically adjusts the training level if your pet challenges the boundary.

What is the light that I see blinking on the collar?

That is the status light indicator which monitors your pets receiver. It not only confirms that your system is functioning properly but lets you know the training level the receiver is set to, when the battery is low, and if your pet has recently challenged the boundary.

How long do the batteries last?

The R-8 receiver has a battery life of two years. The longest in the industry. It is not only more convenient for you but is also more environmentally friendly: In ten years you will use five DogWatch batteries compared to 40 of our competitors.
The R-7 receiver, for toy breeds will last six months.

What type of batteries should I use?

The R-8 battery must be a 3.6 volt Saft LS-14250.
The R-7 battery must be a 3.0 volt Varta CR1/3N or a GE Sanyo GES-LC2-1/3N.

Where do I get my replacement batteries?

You can purchase them from us, and unlike the competition our batteries are available at retail stores. Just make sure you purchase the batteries listed above.

What is the warranty on the DogWatch system?

There is a lifetime equipment warranty on your outdoor system when installed by DogWatch of Delaware Valley.

Is the system safe during a lightning storm?

The DogWatch Hidden Fence System has both an internal lightning surge protector in the transmitter as well as an external surge protector which is grounded to a lightning rod.

What if my house loses electrical power?

The DogWatch PowerPak™ is an available auxiliary power supply that will provide hours of power to your DogWatch system until your household electrical service is restored.

What if I move?

Once you have purchased your DogWatch Hidden Fence System, you can add to it or take it with you when you move.
